Children, who have gone through trauma, need special care and protection. A victimized child needs to be placed in a safe and secure environment to begin the process of healing and rehabilitation when keeping the child in one’s home or with one’s family is not in the best interest of the child. In some cases, the vulnerability of a child stems from her/his very surroundings. In such cases, the other children in the family of the child (such as siblings) could also live a life of vulnerability and, hence, their safety needs to be ensured.
This is the case of three sisters — Fauzia, Asma and Saba. After Fauzia was placed in a Children’s Home, the caseworkers realized that the sisters were also at the risk of getting trafficked and exploited in the sex trade. Read here.
