Girls from socio-economically marginalized communities are still falling prey to Devadasi practice, a long-standing tradition of dedicating prepubescent/pubescent girls as Devadasis (slaves of god), who are thereafter commercially sexually exploited for the rest of their lives. The study attempts to identify the gaps in the current legislation prohibiting dedication besides examining the application of legislation and schemes.
