A human trafficking survivor wrote a two-page letter to the Prime Minister (PM), Narendra Modi, narrating her ordeal and requesting the PM to rescue other victims trapped in a similar situation.
In the letter, she mentioned how she was trafficked to the city brothel where she spent six years in “hellish” situation. She further elaborated on how she was physically abused and treated like an animal.
When she had lost all hope of being rescued, Mumbai Police, along with a local NGO came to her rescue. She was rehabilitated and as a result, today, she works at a garment factory.
The letter was handed over to the PM by Vijaya Rohatkar, the chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW) and the president of BJP Mahila Morcha.
Ms. Rohatkar said that the PMO would take cognizance of the matter and take suitable action.
