To be or not to be? Questions on motherhood searching answers
Among the various challenges that confront a social worker in the field, balancing empathy and objectivity is perhaps the most daunting. Every day brings in cases, experiences and perspectives that serve as a reminder of an adage “Life is but shades of grey”. Everything, no matter what, must be evaluated in the context that it is built in and not in isolation; one often goes back to the oft-quoted academic question – “Is objectivity a myth?”
The case presented here highlights one such experience. It is also an attempt to find answers to the different questions that were raised during the course of interventions in the case.

Working in the Naunihal Children’s Home for the past 8 years, I am well versed in my tasks of the day. Usually, my day begins with taking attendance of the children and discussing the day’s tasks with my team members. After taking the attendance, while I was discussing the daily task with the team members, I mentioned to them that for the first time since I had joined, Naunihal has only 11 children.

Pre-Trial Legal Investigative Processes involving Child Victims of Sexual Offences – How can they be less violative and more child-friendly?
As per the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences ACT (POCSOA) Rules2020, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) can appoint a Support Person to render assistance to the child through the process of investigation & trial. Over the last few years, as per appointment given by the CWCs, Prerana has played the role of a Support Person in cases of sexual violence against children.
SDG Goal 2- Understanding Prerana’s interventions in ensuring access to nutritional food and ration relief
Ms. Mugdha Dandekar had joined Prerana as a Project Coordinator in 2006, and has been a part of our team for over 15 years. She is currently the Program Head of Night Care Center and monitors our three NCCs at Kamathipura, Falkland Road and Vashi Turbe. She also coordinates with donors, is involved in documentation along with monitoring and evaluation.
