Human trafficking case: 45 minors trafficked from Bihar to Delhi rescued

On Wednesday morning, 45 minor boys were rescued by an NGO in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. As per a report, these boys had been trafficked to Delhi from Bihar in 2020. The minors used to work in a small and darkroom of a bangle factory and barely paid anything by the factory owners. The NGO has been identified as Prayas Childline which helped in rescuing minors some as young as seven-year age.       

Mukesh Kumar, a representative from the Prayas Childline said, “The boys were not allowed to switch on the fans even in searing heat. They used to sit with folded legs for 12 hours straight and were locked up in rooms so that they couldn’t even escape,” was saying as quoted by The Times of India.  

He also said that when the Bangle factories’ employers got to know about the joint raid being conducted by the Delhi Police and the NGO, they simply locked up some minors in washrooms.        

Another official from the NGO also added that some kids were injured during the process. One of them has been admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital and another one to Lok Nayak Hospital.

As per the report, rescued minors were in the age group of seven to fifteen. No arrest has been made so far in this case till Wednesday evening.
